1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Context: Endodontically treated maxillary premolars are more susceptible to fracture because of the loss of tooth structure following caries removal and endodontic procedures. Various composite restorative systems and reinforcement strategies, such as horizontal fiber posts (HFPs), have been proposed to improve fracture behavior and promote more favorable failure patterns. Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate fracture patterns in endodontically treated maxillary premolars restored with different composite systems, with and without horizontal fiber posts (HFP). Materials and Methods: Sixty extracted maxillary premolars were prepared with standardized mesio-occlusal cavities and endodontically treated. Specimens were divided into six groups ( Results: HFP groups showed a higher incidence of cohesive (0.70) and favorable fractures (0.70) compared to nonpost groups (0.50 and 0.40). Adhesive and unfavorable fractures were reduced in HFP groups. The differences were statistically significant ( Conclusion: HFP significantly improve fracture patterns by promoting favorable and cohesive failures. Their reinforcing effect is more influential than the type of restorative material used.
