Association of serum growth differentiation factor 11 with asthma severity, inflammation, and airway remodeling in pediatric patients.
Article in Frontiers in medicine, 2026. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Not yet cited in PubMed.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Background: Growth differentiation factor 11 (GDF11), a member of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF- Methods: This cross-sectional study enrolled 107 children with asthma (72 with stable asthma and 35 with acute exacerbations) and 110 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Pulmonary function parameters, inflammatory biomarkers, airway remodeling-related factors, and serum GDF11 levels were assessed. Correlation analyses and multivariate logistic regression were performed to evaluate the association between serum GDF11 levels and clinical characteristics. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to assess the diagnostic performance of GDF11 in identifying asthma exacerbations. Results: Compared with healthy controls, children with asthma exhibited significantly lower serum GDF11 levels ( Conclusion: Reduced serum GDF11 levels are associated with asthma exacerbations, airway inflammation, and remodeling in pediatric patients. GDF11 may serve as a potential biomarker of asthma severity and exacerbation risk and is associated with airway inflammatory and structural changes in children with asthma.
