Estimation of the α/β ratio for metastatic melanomas in a patient based on actual responses to radiation therapy delivered with various fractionation schedules.
Article in Reports of practical oncology and radiotherapy : journal of Greatpoland Cancer Center in Poznan and Polish Society of Radiation Oncology, 2026. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Not yet cited in PubMed.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Background: Radiation response of 41 metastatic melanomas treated with various fractionation schedules in a single patient was analyzed to identify an α/β ratio that fits the clinical data. Materials and methods: Of the 41 tumors, 37 were located within 5 cm from the body surface, while 4 were deep-seated. The patient received radiation doses between 32 and 52.5 Gy in 4-18 fractions over 7 series of radiotherapy during 5 months. Since no tumors developed recurrence between 4 and 7 months after radiation, local status at 4 months was used as an endpoint. Local control was analyzed in relation to gross tumor volume (GTV) and biological effective dose (BED) Results: All tumors exhibited partial or complete responses; however, 11 developed local recurrence. In figures plotting GTV Conclusions: An α/β ratio of 10-15 Gy appeared to more accurately reflect the actual radiation response of metastatic melanomas in this patient.
