1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Infertility is a major global health concern, and assisted reproductive technology (ART) is widely used to support conception. Genetic and genomic applications have increasingly been incorporated into ART to improve embryo selection and reproductive risk stratification; however, their impact on clinical outcomes such as live birth rates remains debated. This study aimed to evaluate global research trends and thematic development related to genetic and genomic applications in ART outcomes from 2014 to 2025. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using publications retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed. Following metadata harmonisation and duplicate removal using Bibliometrix in RStudio, 4876 unique publications were retained from 8533 records. Biblioshiny and VOSviewer were used to analyse publication trends, collaboration networks, thematic evolution, keyword co-occurrence, and citation patterns. Normalised citation indicators, including citations per year, were applied to minimise temporal bias. Publication output increased markedly after 2018, reflecting growing interest in genomic applications within ART. Research productivity was concentrated in high-income countries, particularly the USA, China, and Europe. Key research themes included embryo aneuploidy screening, preimplantation genetic testing, sequencing technologies, implantation outcomes, miscarriage reduction, and live birth prediction. Emerging themes included non-invasive embryo assessment, embryo mosaicism, and multi-omics integration. Genetic and genomic technologies have substantially influenced ART research, particularly in embryo assessment and reproductive outcome prediction. Future studies should prioritise clinical validation, standardised reporting, and broader international collaboration to determine the reproductive benefits of genomic innovations in ART.
