1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Merkel Cell Polyomavirus is an oncogenic virus associated with Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC). However, considering viral detection in respiratory specimens and similarities between MCC and neuroendocrine lung cancer, its plausible role in the respiratory tract is disputed. MCPyV-mediated oncogenesis involves viral antigens interfering with host signaling as a DNA Damage Response (DDR). In the current study, respiratory models, including lung cancer cell lines (A549 and H1299), and non-malignant bronchial systems (HBEC-KT and a 2D ALI model) were used to investigate DDR genes' expression following MCPyV infection. Once the capability to support viral replication and transcription was assessed using qPCR and RT-qPCR, respectively, the mRNA levels of DDR genes, including
