Electroacupuncture at ST36 protects against dextran sulfate sodium-induced ulcerative colitis in mice by enhancing sympathetic nerve innervation in colonic tissue.
Article in MedScience, 2026. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Not yet cited in PubMed.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Ulcerative colitis (UC), characterized by diffuse colonic inflammation and enteric nervous system (ENS) alterations, remains a therapeutic challenge. While the role of the parasympathetic nervous system in intestinal inflammation has been extensively documented, understanding of sympathetic nervous system (SNS) function in UC pathogenesis remains limited. Electroacupuncture (EA) at ST36 (Zusanli) is a widely used alternative therapy for UC, yet its regulatory effects on the ENS-particularly the SNS-and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we established a 2.5% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced murine UC model and validated disease phenotypes via histological assessment. Using a non-anesthetic EA intervention protocol mimicking the clinical conditions, we found that EA at ST36 attenuated local inflammatory progression in DSS-induced UC mice and mitigated ENS degeneration. Critically, our results demonstrated that EA at ST36 specifically reversed SNS reduction (tyrosine hydroxylase-positive, TH
