Abstract

Objective: This study compared delayed- versus immediate-reward financial incentives using a weekly reward frequency. Methods: Smokers were randomized in a single blinded study of 2 groups: Results: Twelve (33%) participants quit smoking in intention to treat analysis with 9 (75%) remaining abstinent 6 months after trial completion. The Reward Group had 5 of 15 (33%) quit versus 7 of 16 (43.8%) in the Banked-Money Group.
