1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Background: Elevated levels of circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25 (OH) D) are correlated with reduced levels of circulating thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between vitamin D and circulating TSH levels based on sex and age, with a focus on thyroid autoimmunity and thyroid hormone levels. Methods: Fifty samples were obtained from patients with hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's thyroiditis, HT) aged 18-59 years (49.4% men, 50.6% women). The samples were tested for serum vitamin D and TSH levels using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: The mean TSH level in the HT group (5.97 ± 0.18) was significantly higher than that in the control group (1.61 ± 0.1) ( Conclusion: This study showed a negative correlation between serum vitamin D and TSH levels in both healthy controls and patients with HT, regardless of age and sex.
