SynthesisFrontiers in public health2025
About half of older adults have two or more chronic conditions at the same time: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Background: Population aging has led to a rising prevalence of multimorbidity among older adults, posing a significant global public health challenge. This study aims to comprehensively integrate the evidence regarding the prevalence of multimorbidity among the older adults and the influencing factors through a systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis in accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The research question was structured using the PICOS framework: Results: Forty-nine studies involving 729,043 older adults were included. The global pooled prevalence of multimorbidity was 46.0% (95% CI: 38.0%-55.0%), with substantial heterogeneity ( Conclusion: Multimorbidity is highly prevalent among the global older adults, with significant geographical and demographic variations. Modifiable risk factors such as obesity, low education, and low income are crucial targets for intervention to alleviate the burden of multimorbidity.
