ReviewRevista cientifica odontologica (Universidad Cientifica del Sur)
[Association of cigarette consumption, nicotine derivatives and cannabis with periodontal disease. A review].
Review in Revista cientifica odontologica (Universidad Cientifica del Sur). The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Not yet cited in PubMed.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Background: Tobacco use is considered one of the leading risk factors for death worldwide. Scientific evidence shows that smoking is associated with serious and chronic diseases, such as inflammatory diseases, head, neck and lung cancers, as well as oral diseases, including periodontal disease. This study aimed to evaluate the association between tobacco, nicotine derivatives, cannabis consumption and periodontal disease. Materials and Methods: A narrative review was performed based on studies collected in the Medline, Scopus and SciELO databases, considering those studies involving the adult population. Results: screening and synthesis of the available information was performed by two reviewers working independently. Five hundred and nineteen articles were reviewed, while 39 were finally selected; including cross-sectional studies, randomized clinical trials, mendelian randomization studies, cohort studies, case-control studies, longitudinal studies, and Conclusion: The current study concluded that there is an association between periodontal disease and the consumption of tobacco, nicotine derivatives, and cannabis based on the available evidence. Future studies should evaluate and place major emphasis on the association of cannabis with periodontal disease, as the evidence is limited compared to other type of drugs.
