Indicator bacteria taxa reveal breeding site origins of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.
Article in BMC research notes, 2025. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 1 paper.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
backgroundThe microbiota of adult mosquitoes reflects both their life history and the environments they encounter. Linking specific bacterial communities in adult mosquitoes to their larval aquatic habitats would suggest that microbiota profiling can serve as a tool to identify the breeding site origins of mosquitoes.
objectiveWe investigated whether specific OTUs within the microbiota of female Aedes aegypti could serve as reliable indicators of their larval habitats, thereby identifying the breeding environments from which adult mosquitoes emerged.
conclusionIndicator species analysis on a previously published dataset of Ae. aegypti mosquitoes collected from six different types of breeding sites in Puerto Rico revealed significant differences in microbial communities among mosquitoes emerging from distinct aquatic habitats. Specific OTUs showed high specificity and fidelity to their respective breeding sites. This included members of the families Erysipelotrichaceae and Cytophagaceae in mosquitoes from plastic buckets, Burkholderiaceae and Clostridiaceae in mosquitoes from trash cans, Actinomycetaceae in mosquitoes from discarded tires, Microbacteriaceae in mosquitoes from septic tanks, and Enterobacteriaceae in mosquitoes from tree holes. These findings suggest that the microbiota of adult mosquitoes retains markers of their larval habitats, which could be used to trace their origins and inform targeted mosquito control efforts.
