Article in BMJ open respiratory research, 2025. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. It is linked to trial NCT07099027 (The Lung Health Check Pilot), which is not on this map. Cited by 5 papers.

1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Abstract

introductionLow-dose chest CT (LDCT) has demonstrated the ability to detect early-stage lung cancer (LC) and improve disease-specific mortality in high-risk individuals. Use of LC risk scores such as the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, Ovarian Model Score (PLCO METHODS AND ANALYSIS: In a pilot feasibility clinical trial, approximately 30 000 adults aged between 55 and 74 from participating general practitioner (GP) practices will be invited to a 'lung health check (LHC)' prescreening, involving a telephone assessment of eligibility and risk status, based on the PLCO ETHICS, DISSEMINATION AND REGISTRATION DETAILS: In this pilot feasibility trial, the uptake of LC screening using a community-based strategy among high-risk participants will be investigated. The study has been approved by Beaumont Hospital Research Ethics Committee and is registered with clinicaltrials.gov (NCT07099027). Novel features of our design include directly calling participants and our translational arm of the study, which will focus on blood/breath/sputum biomarkers associated with LC.
