Mung Bean Starch-Derived Fermented Liquid Alleviates Constipation via 5-HT Modulation and Gut Microbiota Regulation: An In Vivo Study.
Article in Foods (Basel, Switzerland), 2025. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 1 paper.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
backgroundConstipation is a common gastrointestinal disorder with a significant impact on quality of life.
methodsConstipation was induced in male ICR mice via 25% cotrimoxazole gavage (20 mL/kg/day for 7 days). Mice were divided into prevention (pre-MBSFL), treatment (MBSFL), and control groups. MBSFL was prepared by fermenting mung bean starch with
resultsMBSFL intervention restored fecal water content by 38%, reduced first black stool latency from 6.2 h to 3.1 h, and improved small intestinal propulsion by 64%. Additionally, it downregulated serum NO (25%) and VIP (32%) while upregulating SP (49%) and 5-HT (78%) levels. Intestinal 5HTR4 and SERT expression increased by 78% and 71%, respectively, with MAOA suppression (25%). Microbial analysis revealed a 140% increase in
conclusionsMBSFL alleviates constipation through dual mechanisms: modulating 5-HT pathway activity and restoring gut microbiota homeostasis.
