1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Mitochondrial dysfunction-mediated T cell exhaustion is associated with the efficacy of tumor therapy; however, the effect of radiotherapy (RT) on the mitochondrial function of peripheral blood immune cells remains still unclear. Therefore, the current study aimed to determine mitochondrial function indicators in immune cells, in particular mitochondrial mass (MM) and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), to assess the dynamic changes of immune status in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) during RT. Peripheral venous blood was collected from patients with locally advanced NPC at day 1 pre-RT, at the 10th fraction of RT and within 2 days after RT. Based on a novel immunofluorescence technique, flow cytometry was used to assess the proportion of lymphocytes and their subsets in peripheral blood and the mitochondrial indexes, MM and low MMP (MMP
