THE USE OF ABDOMINAL CORSETS ON COLONOSCOPY: A PROSPECTIVE RANDOMISED CONTROLLED TRIAL.
Trial report in Arquivos brasileiros de cirurgia digestiva : ABCD = Brazilian archives of digestive surgery, 2025. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 2 papers.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
backgroundColonoscopy is a widely used endoscopic procedure to investigate diseases of the colon and rectum. Colonoscopy procedure has difficulties for the patient and endoscopist.
aimsTo investigate whether the use of an abdominal corset can make the colonoscopy procedure easier and faster.
methodsThis is a prospective randomised controlled study. Patients over 18 years of age who underwent elective colonoscopy in our clinic were evaluated. Patients were divided into two groups according to the use of the corset. Variables were compared between the groups.
resultsA total of 204 patients were included in the study. Corsets were used in 97 patients and not used in 107 patients. The need for manual compression was found to be decreased in the corset use group. There was no effect of corset use on cecal intubation time in the general population. It was found that cecal intubation time decreased with corset use in patients with body mass index - BMI<30 and male gender.
conclusionsThe need for manual compression can be reduced by the use of an abdominal corset during colonoscopy. The use of an abdominal corset may make the colonoscopy procedure faster and easier for the endoscopist and the patient.
