1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

backgroundPseudorabies virus (PRV), porcine parvovirus (PPV) and porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3) are common in swine farms in China. Single infection or co-infection with PRV, PPV and/or PCV3 was difficult to distinguish between their clinical symptoms and pathological changes. Therefore, a quick and accurate detection method is needed for epidemiological surveillance, disease management, import and export control.

methodsIn the present study, we established a multiplex real-time PCR assay based on SYBR Green I for the simultaneous detection of PRV, PPV and PCV3 genomes.

resultsPRV, PPV and PCV3 were distinguished in the same sample by their different melting temperatures (Tm), with melting peaks at 90 °C for PRV, 84 °C for PPV and 80 °C for PCV3, respectively, and other non-targeted swine pathogens did not exhibit specific melting peaks. The assay showed a high degree of linearity (R

conclusionsThis multiplex real-time PCR assay could be used as a diagnostic tool that is rapid, sensitive and reliable for the detection of co-infection of PRV, PPV and PCV3 as well as for molecular epidemiological surveillance.
