Impact of cardiovascular risk factors and cardiac diseases on mortality in patients with moderate to severe ARDS: A retrospective cohort study.
Article in International journal of cardiology. Cardiovascular risk and prevention, 2024. The graph could read no effect estimate from its abstract, so it casts no vote on the map. Cited by 2 papers.
What it found
Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.
The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.
The trial behind it
Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.
Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract
Background: Histor Methods: We performed a retrospective study on prospectively collected data from patients with ARDS and a PaO Results: Among 1.033 patients, 181 (17.5 %) had a history of CAD and/or AF and/or VR. History of CAD and/or AF and/or VR was independently associated with 1-year mortality (Odds-Ratio (OR) = 2.59, 95 % confidence interval (CI) 1.76-3.82, p < 0.001), with mortality at 90 days (OR = 1.87, 95 % CI 1.27-2.76, p = 0.001), but not with mortality at 28 days (OR = 1.40, 95 % CI 0.93-2.11, p = 0.10). In sensitivity analyses, history of CAD and/or AF and/or VR remained independently associated with 1-year mortality in ICU survivors (OR = 3.58, 95 % CI = 2.41-7.82, p < 0.001). Conclusions: History of CAD and/or AF and/or VR was associated with mortality in ARDS. Prompt referral to cardiologists for comprehensive management post-ICU discharge may be warranted to optimize outcomes in this vulnerable population.
