1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Background: Due to the incomplete standardization of the etiology and diagnostic criteria for fetal growth restriction (FGR), there has been uncertainty in the early prediction of FGR. The comprehensive estimation of FGR was mainly based on various factors, such as maternal characteristics and medical history, nuchal translucency (NT), and serum biochemical markers [pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) and free beta human chorionic gonadotropin (free β-hCG)]. Herein, we performed a retrospective cohort study to investigate the correlation and diagnostic value of maternal markers such as PAPP-A, free β-hCG, and NT in the first trimester with maternal characteristics, so as to provide theoretical basis for perinatal care and the application of low-dose aspirin. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted to analyze the data of an FGR group and a non-FGR group. Chi-square test and Mann-Whitney Results: The multiple of median (MoM) of PAPP-A level and NT in the FGR group were lower than those of the non-FGR group [0.63 (0.12-2.08) Conclusions: Early screening markers combined with perinatal characteristics have better diagnostic value in predicting FGR and provide a scientific basis for the clinical use of low-dose aspirin to prevent FGR.
