1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

Neovascular or "wet" age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) is a leading cause of blindness among older adults. Choroidal neovascularization (CNV) is a major pathological feature of nAMD, in which abnormal new blood vessel growth from the choroid leads to irreversible vision loss. There is a critical need to develop novel therapeutic strategies to address limitations of the current anti-vascular endothelial growth factor biologics. Previously, we identified soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) as a possible therapeutic target for CNV through a forward chemical genetic approach. The purpose of this study was to validate sEH as a target by examining retinal expression of sEH protein and mRNA by immunohistochemistry and RNAscope in situ hybridization, respectively, and to assess the efficacy of an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector designed to knock down the sEH gene,
