1 · What the graph read from it

What it found

Each row is one number read from the abstract, on the scale the paper reported it, with its interval. Left of the dashed line favours the treatment, right favours the comparator. Under each row is the sentence it came from. New to these charts? A ten-minute tutorial.

The abstract states no effect estimate the extractor could read, or names no intervention and outcome on the map, so this paper lights no cell and moves no belief. It is still indexed, cited and linked below.

2 · The registry

The trial behind it

Trials whose registry record cites this paper, or whose number appears in the abstract. A trial that started after this paper was published is citing it as background, not reporting it.

Neither the registry nor the abstract names a trial number. If this is a trial report, that itself is worth knowing.

Abstract

backgroundPostpartum Depression affects a considerable number of women worldwide. This condition inflicts severe consequences to mother and child health. Thus far, available treatments have low response and high relapse rates. We designed this trial to evaluate a safe and more efficacious innovative therapy.

aimsTo report a feasible and ethical study design to assess the safety and efficacy of a high frequency repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation 10 Hz (rTMS) compared to sham rTMS in women with moderate to severe Post-Partum Depression using standard treatment (sertraline). To conduct an ancillary, exploratory, randomized, active controlled, double blind study with a hypothesis to assess the safety and efficacy of 10 Hz rTMS compared to sertraline.

methodsA multicenter, parallel arm, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind design to assess safety and efficacy of 10 Hz rTMS compared to sham.An ancillary study will be conducted with parallel arm, randomized, active controlled and double dummy design to assess safety and efficacy of 10 Hz rTMS compared to sertraline.
